Ayurvedic Medicine: Naturopathy
Ayurvedic medicine, is a therapeutic system created in India about 5000 years ago. In Sanskrit the word “Ayurveda” is a combination of two words “ayur”, which means “life” and “veda”, which means “science”. Thus Ayurveda means “the science of life”. It is considered a “holistic” medical system because it is whole, it treats the mind and body – a balance that is always necessary for health and happiness. The main goal is to cleanse the body of substances that cause disease and restore homeostasis.
For this, we must first define your Dosha:
– Vata: kinetic energy, composed by the elements air and ether,
– Pitta: the energy of transformation, composed by the elements fire and water,
– Kapha: the energy of cohesion, composed by the elements earth and water.
The dominant dosha(s) in the individual determine his tendencies, strengths and weaknesses. Advice will be given to the patient for a lifestyle in accordance with his Ayurvedic type, including a diet that is beneficial to him by harmonizing him with the Universe.
